Start a ConversationTABLE turns ordinary gameplay into intentional observation, reflection, discussion, and skill practice. The goal is not to turn every game night into a therapy session. It is to notice what the table already reveals, stay in scope, and create better conversations afterward.
Name the purpose before you play: belonging, communication, decisions, trust, or another clear goal.
Check readiness, relationships, and the room so the encounter fits the people present.
Choose mechanics and setup that make useful moments more likely without forcing insight.
Facilitate during play with pacing, inclusion, and board-first prompts.
Reflect after the game, then carry one practical takeaway into work, relationships, or the next table.
Games are the environment. The larger subject is how people interact. Therapy is one important application, not the whole brand.
A few strong pieces that show the range of Board Game Therapy™. Start with silence, stay for scope and conversation craft.
Intentional quiet after reveals, conflict, and debrief questions.

Sean M. Smith builds Board Game Therapy™ from real tables: community hosting, facilitation, leadership, counseling education, and years of noticing what already works when people play with intention.
His M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling informs listening, reflection, and boundaries. Board Game Therapy™ is not itself psychotherapy, and coaching through BGT™ is nonclinical.

Games already create moments of communication, tension, cooperation, uncertainty, leadership, decision-making, and emotion. BGT™ helps you use those moments intentionally.
